Selank is a peptide that does something most people wish they could bottle: it reduces anxiety without making you drowsy or foggy. It was developed in Russia from a naturally occurring immune peptide, and it has been used clinically there as an anti-anxiety treatment. What makes it interesting is that it calms the stress response while simultaneously improving focus and memory. Most anti-anxiety compounds do the opposite — they dull your mind along with your anxiety. Selank does not.
Selank works by gently modulating several brain chemistry systems at once. It increases BDNF (the brain growth protein), influences your natural opioid-like pain and mood regulators, and fine-tunes serotonin, dopamine, and GABA activity. GABA is your brain's main calming signal — it is what benzodiazepines (like Valium) amplify. Selank works with GABA more subtly, which is why it reduces anxiety without the sedation, dependency, or withdrawal that comes with prescription anti-anxiety drugs.
